Volunteer Program

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES INCLUDE:

Hotline Support

Volunteers will offer

immediate crisis intervention

to victims of sexual violence

as well as connect them

to the necessary agencies in order to meet their needs.

 

Volunteers will coordinate

with on-call staff in order

to connect victim with

an advocate to provide

further services.

Volunteer will sign-up for

five, 12-hour shifts

each month or schedule

 based upon their availability.

On-call Advocate

Volunteers will offer

immediate on-site crisis intervention to victims of

sexual violence after-hours.

Volunteers will serve as

the point of first contact

and will accompany victims

at hospital to begin intake process, support victim

during SANE examination,

and assist with reporting process.

Volunteer will complete all documentation prior to handing the case to SAVAC staff advocate to follow-up.

This position may also offer hotline support based on  availability.

Office & Administrative Support

Volunteer will help

in the office with projects, filing, data entry, client assistance, cleaning, answering phone calls, or other clerical tasks as deemed necessary by Volunteer Coordinator or Executive Director.

Outreach Volunteer

Volunteer will help

in the office with projects, filing, data entry, client assistance, cleaning, answering phone calls, or other clerical tasks as deemed necessary by Volunteer Coordinator or Executive Director.

Education Volunteer

This position accompanies staff advocates to teach awareness and prevention classes at local schools or colleges.

 

Volunteer may also accompany advocates to trainings for  other professional agencies and other community groups. Classes may occur during after office hours. Please let Volunteer Coordinator know of your availability.

Fundraising & Special Events

Volunteer for special events are need will help during fundraisers or special events by setting up, help during the event, and cleaning up if necessary.

A background check will be run for any applicant who is volunteering or interning at the Sexual Assault Victims Advocacy Center. The Executive Director will administer background and references check at no cost to you.

All training will be completed online using the Victim's Assistance Online Training Program. All training is free. Volunteer must register for access to a personal account to track their training. Hours are subject to specific position and availability.
